Living Narratives: Feminine Visualities from the South

October - December, 2024

Arterias conceives a space to highlight the aesthetics of emerging artists from Angola and other countries in the region. In doing so, it also aims to generate from the city a place to visualise the personal worlds and specific histories of women. The city as a meeting place for women's fictions, for critical and alternative narratives that emerge from their views and experiences. Bringing their work together will allow us to find common concerns, exchange experiences and creative processes, and strengthen their role as agents in the elaboration of their own narratives. As well as deepening the points of contact between poetics, gender, social difference and artistic creation in the southern area.

In the project, each creator brings with her a unique and personal territory, which is interwoven in the studio to foster a dialogue on diversity and social difference. On an expressive level, the proposal emphasises the narrative aspect of art, highlighting how the artists tell their stories through their work. Weaving their poetics together in a shared space will provide a meeting place where the artists can share and collaborate in their creative processes.
