Why we do it

Arterias emerges as a space for the visibility of emerging artistic imaginaries born in the asymmetrical, hybrid, tropical and migrant contexts of the Global South. It emerged in Cuba in 2020, the result of the initiative of Carlos González and Elizabeth Pozo Rubio, eager to connect diverse, trans-territorial, peripheral and migrant aesthetics. Its motivation is to empower, promote opportunities for circulation, exhibition and dialogue for their poetics of reinvention and utopia. Its aspiration is:

To make visible the artistic voices of the South

We seek to make visible the common experiences and points of contact between the diverse artistic practices that emerge in the geographies of the Global South. This in order to contribute to consolidate the creators who are less visible to the artistic community.

Empowering transformative creative processes

Arterias is committed to working with local and trans-territorial actors to support artistic initiatives that empower creative processes. These processes should contribute to social re-imagination and the construction of a more inclusive and diverse community.

Positioning artistic culture as an engine for change

Arterias' aspiration is to cement artistic culture as a key factor of social transformation. It seeks to make it an active element in the construction of a fairer and more equitable community.
